Why I failed, but that’s not the worst part…

I've been caught up in a series of twists and turns, both in my business and my life. I was on the grind, growing my insurance agency and growing an insurance service business. But then, out of nowhere, I dove headfirst into a new marketing gig.

Let me tell you, I hit a wall and felt like I was just scrappin' to survive. Flashback to a few years back, I was putting in crazy hours, juggling family, school, and a full-time gig. Felt like I was on a freakin' turbo treadmill, ya know?

I was itching to break free from this survival mode trap. So I went all in, pumpin' out 15-hour days like a champ. Fast forward to last year, and guess what? Same old stress, same old "tryna make it" game. And let me tell ya, my situation wasn't even bad. I mean, our insurance game was on fire – quadrupled it since I took the reins. Insurance services were steady, with a rockstar COO at the wheel.

But there I was, stressed to the max. So what did I do? Oh, just started a whole new biz from scratch, 'cause apparently, I needed more chaos.

I gave it my all, tryna kickstart this new venture. But man, it was like tryna swim upstream in molasses – nobody has time for that. So I pumped the brakes. And you know why? Sometimes, you gotta hit pause and reflect, my friends. We get stuck in these loops, doing the same ol’ thing day after day, not thinking why we're doin' it.

I had an epiphany, a real lightbulb moment. Contemplation, I needed to take time to contemplate.

My awesome coach Mandy recommended a book “The Art Of Contemplation” by Richard Rudd. This book really hit home. So during my time contemplating where I went wrong, this is what I realized:

You gotta carve out moments in your day, week, month, heck, even the year, to make sure you not just going through the motions. I had to check if my daily moves were in sync with my big-picture goals. And here's the kicker – maybe there's a faster way to hit that goal.

Ever think about that? I'm all about those "what if" scenarios. Trim downtime or resources and ask yourself, "If time was short, could I still crush it? Could I level up?" And what if there's stuff you could drop, won't even dent the results, but buys you more hours to chase the real game-changers? It's like spotting that one move that keeps paying dividends down the road.

Hold up, this is the real talk right here. You’re never gonna spot those gems if you don’t take the time to do a proper audit. If you're just stuck in neutral, spinning them wheels, maybe it's time to kick back with the fam and give 'em your precious hours. Let's be honest, the whole 9 to 5 deal is so boring. It's a new dawn, and we're rewriting the rules.

Take Action:

Schedule some time in your day to just think… no agenda.

If you think this is crazy, people like Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein did this regularly. Some of their best ideas came when they took time to reflect.
